Keaton Rodgers bought a van and a dog this winter and has been touring the NW looking for the goods.  In between being a road hobo, he got some pretty sweet shots this winter. Check ‘em out!

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

This was one of my finals runs at the 2012 Legendary Banked Slalom at Mt Baker.  Super fun and really challenging.  90% of the guys in the Pro category either fell or DQ’ed on the finals day.  Craziest course I’ve seen the last 5 years of doing this race.

Team Tour 1st Stop- Mt Hood

Team Tour at Mt Hood went off without a hitch!  We had sun the whole time and there was some super fun riding to be had.  Thanks to the folks at Timberline and Mt Hood Meadows for letting us show up and rip!  Sorry for the lack of boardin photos.  I guess you’ll have to wait for the videos coming soon to www.salomonsnowboards.com!

1st Stop, Timberline, OR

Zac, Roobs, Java, Grenier, Chris the backflipping bus driver, and Harrison.  Straight grillin’ at T Line.

Harry waiting for a hot dog at Mt Hood Meadows.

Des and Meese.  Funny story about this slingshot.  I’m pretty sure this was the reason for the ketchup fight.

Alaska

This was my first time to AK and it blew my mind.  The main mission was to go see the Zaks Boardroom and Alyeska Resort, two great shops up in AK.  Secondary mission was to see as many sights as we could along the way.  Right before we got there, a few feet of snow dropped.  The day we arrived, the clouds broke and we got sunny weather the whole time.

Serious sightseeing.  Turnagain Arm.

I was lucky enough to bring my wife with me.  She was my trusty driver.

Clinic night at Zaks Boardroom in Anchorage.  Arguably one of the best shops in Alaska.

After Anchorage, we headed to Girdwood.  We were told of an epic hike that would put us in another world.  Here’s a few shots from the other world, AKA Crow Pass.

This cabin is open to the public.  Sleeps 10.  Bring #2 Diesel for the furnace.  Drink the creek water, it’s delicious.

Above and to the left, you can see some of the terrain that is accessible from here.  When we were up there, there was 6 inches of fresh powder snow.  There were two people staying at the cabin who showed us all the lines they had done that day on the surrounding faces.  Made me wish I had my 63 Split Stick.

The end of the hike brought us to Raven Glacier.  I’ve never been this close to such a big glacier.  It was amazing.

Girdwood is home to the best ski resort in Alaska, Alyeska Resort.  The people here were so nice and accomodating.  They put us up in their amazing hotel where you can get on a calling list so they notify you in the middle of the night if the northern lights show up.  We got on the list, but no call.

Within 20 minutes of being at Alyeska, we were on the tram and headed up the north face.  This is the longest double black diamond run in North America.  It looked extra extreme with no snow on it.  When we got to the top, they had more snow than most resorts get mid winter.  This was October 8th.

Also near Girwood is Portage Glacier.  From what we heard, you used to be able to walk right onto it from where we took the picture.  Now it sits a few miles across this lake.

We went to a nature preserve near Girdwood that had every large beast that lives in Alaska.  This Elk is very protective of his herd.  I guess he can pee up to 10 feet at you if he gets angry.

This is what a Musk Ox looks like.
